I am in a style slump.
It doesn’t mean that I look at my closet and think, “I have nothing to wear!” It means I look at my closet and see so many things I could wear, but none of it feels good enough.
Maybe it’s the fatigue of chronically documenting my outfits for the validation of strangers on the internet. Or just the natural consequence of it being late summer, and running out of creative ways to look cute in ninety-degree weather.
When this happens, it’s tempting to sink into consumptive obsession. If I buy this “elevated basic” or this “wardrobe staple” or whatever “must have” is making the rounds on social media, then maybe all my wardrobe woes will be fixed. Maybe then I’ll never feel like I have nothing to wear, or that my outfits are missing a crucial something.
